After a lifetime of servitude in the cycle industry Mike Cookson has finally hung up his cape and retired.
Congratulations Mike! I hope you find the time to do all those things you’ve never quite managed to fit in.
The shop will continue to trade under the Cookson name (I think), under the ownership and management of Shaun and his business partner Sarah. Congratulations to both of them too, and I hope this opportunity works out really well.
If they’re thinking of changing the name, I think Shaun’s Cycles has a certain ring to it. Mostly I’m hoping that Shaun’s involvement in the shop will have a negative effect on his training and will provide me the opportunity to rip his legs off for a change!
Yeah – Always a smile and a welcome in there. Maybe they’ll start getting some decent bikes in now – Howabout some of Halifaxes finest and a couple of On Ones?
Got to stop for a “Shaun” does not have the same ring to it as got to stop for a “Cookson” – our term for unscheduled stops something Mike always seemed to do on our Sunday morning rides!!!
There will be an On One in the shop shortly – I am having a 456 built up by Shaun – For a friend of course 🙂
Ha – trust you to remember that Shaman!
My memories are of local rides, trips to Wales – the Berwyns epic and Coed-y-Brenin during the foot-and-mouth crisis – and , of course, the riding holiday in Spain.
Top!
bloody hell – we’re doing industry news on IFB now!
its not Shaun cycles!! we decided to drop Mike off the name and change it to Cookson Cycles, we don’t want to scare off the customers!
